LS Math Apps

After attending the PEN event speaker on Thursday, February 23, I was inspired to search for some quality math apps for our primary students. I haven't tried these out with a classroom, but based on reviews they look interesting and might be something that you want to check out. Click here to find more app reviews from Common Sense Media.

Tips for Great Formative Assessment

"It's not the quiz that counts, but the thinking that happens after"

Common Sense Education shares some great information about how to make formative assessment more student-centered.

Check out this video about formative assessment websites and apps.

Following the Kahoot quiz, use one of these ideas:

Tip 1: Poll students about how they did on the quiz (could gain information about future differentiation opportunities)

Tip 2: Facilitate a critical discussion about the quiz and what's next (could shift goal from grade to actual self-assessment)

Tip 3: Get students to create questions (what do you still need to know? what do you want to know more about?)
